Tile Flooring or Tile Projects
Ceramic/porcelain tiles have been popular for interior and exterior decoration for thousands of years due to their exceptional durability, water resistance, and low maintenance requirements. They offer a wide range of design options, from classic to modern, making them adaptable to various design schemes.
Additionally, they are versatile and can be used for both floors and walls, providing seamless continuity in a space. Ceramic/porcelain tiles are cost-effective, resistant to temperature changes and UV rays, and hypoallergenic, making them suitable for various settings, including high-traffic areas.
At Riverbend Interiors, we carry a wide selection of ceramic/porcelain tile designs, colours, and patterns to match the aesthetic you’re hoping to achieve.
Due to their water resistance, ceramic/porcelain tile flooring is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and other high-moisture areas.
Ceramic/porcelain tiles are made from a clay mixture and are kiln-fired, while porcelain tiles are crafted from a finer, purified clay and fired at higher temperatures, resulting in a denser and less porous tile. Porcelain tiles are exceptionally durable and highly resistant to wear, making them suitable for high-traffic areas, whereas ceramic/porcelain tiles, though durable, may be more prone to chipping and cracking.
The cost of installing tile flooring depends on several factors, including the type and material of the tile flooring and the area(s) to be covered. At Riverbend Interiors, we can provide you with a free consultation and a quote on your project with your selected tile flooring options.
There are many advantages of ceramic/porcelain tile flooring. They are:
- Environmentally friendly – Many ceramic/porcelain tiles are made from recycled/recyclable content like clay, sand and glass.
- Low maintenance – Easy to clean and stain-resistant – a simple sweep and wash will do the trick.
- Cost-effective – Ceramic/porcelain tiles come with many affordable options as well as higher price points for added luxury.
- Resistance – Unlike other flooring options, ceramic/porcelain tiles are resistant to moisture, rot, odour, and fading.
Luxury Vinyl Plank
Many modern vinyl options are water-resistant or waterproof against standing water, making them ideal for bathrooms and kitchens.
One of the main advantages of vinyl flooring is that they are a cost-effective option for when you want to achieve the hardwood floor look. Other advantages include:
- Water-resistance and, in some cases, waterproof
- Easy to install
- Can be installed over all types of subfloors
- Low maintenance and easy-to-clean
- Quick and easy repairs of damaged planks
The cost of installing luxury vinyl plank or vinyl tile varies widely depending on several factors, including the type of the vinyl plank or tile and the size of the area(s) to be covered. At Riverbend Interiors, we can provide you with a free consultation and a quote on your project with your selected vinyl plank or tile flooring options.
LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) and LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) are two different types of luxury vinyl flooring. LVT is vinyl flooring designed in a tile shape, whereas LVP is vinyl flooring designed in planks to resemble traditional hardwood floor planks.
The answer is yes, you can! We commonly lay vinyl plank over existing ceramic or porcelain tiles. The main condition for this process is ensuring your existing tiles are well stuck down to your floor.
Harwood Flooring
We carry a variety of hardwood flooring from some of the top manufacturers, including Goodfellow, ETM, Kentwood, Appalachian, and more. You can see the different hardwood species, colours, and finish options in our showroom at 137 River Avenue, Cochrane, Alberta.
The main difference between solid and engineered hardwood flooring is that solid hardwood flooring is made from a single piece of wood. Each plank is milled from a single piece of timber, typically with tongue-and-groove edges for easy installation.
Engineered hardwood flooring, on the other hand, consists of multiple layers. The top layer (the wear layer) is made of real wood, while the lower layers are typically made of plywood or high-density fibreboard. These layers are bonded together to create a stable and durable product. This is done to allow the wood to absorb the humidity fluctuations that an Alberta climate can bring without harming the hardwood layer.
While beautiful, it’s best to avoid hardwood in areas with high moisture due to potential warping.
It varies, but most projects are completed within 2-5 days.
The cost of hardwood flooring varies widely depending on several factors, including the type of hardwood, the quality of the wood, the size of the area(s) to be covered, and the installation method. At Riverbend Interiors, we can provide you with a free consultation and a quote on your project with your selected hardwood flooring options.
When you’re choosing hardwood flooring for your home, you have quite a few decisions to make. Engineered, or solid hardwood? Width of boards and species of wood?
We can help you select the right products for any room in your home, breaking down key factors like your budget, your timeline, your design preferences, your lifestyle, and the amount of flooring you need to be installed.
Laminate Flooring
Yes, laminate flooring is known for its durability against scratches and dents.
Yes! Laminate flooring has come a long way in the last few years. Modern laminate can mimic the look of wood, stone, and more with high realism.
With proper care, it can last between 15-25 years.
In some cases yes, but not always. Some laminate products on the market advertise themselves as waterproof but typically laminate floors are not. With some laminate flooring, water can cause major damage, especially if the water soaks into the wood pulp core. Excessive moisture can cause it to expand and damage the rest of the plank and those planks around it.
The cost of installing laminate flooring depends on several factors, including the type of laminate and the area(s) to be covered. At Riverbend Interiors, we can provide you with a free consultation and a quote on your project with your selected laminate flooring options.
Sheet Vinyl Flooring
Absolutely! It’s made from natural materials like linseed oil, cork, and jute. Also, it’s durable and resistant to dents and scratches.
With proper care, it can last 25-40 years.
Both linoleum and vinyl offer realistic wood and stone looks, but there are a few differences. Vinyl uses printed imagery to create a realistic image on top of the plank (or tile, or sheet) similar to laminate flooring, while in linoleum, the colour goes all the way through the tile.
Linoleum or sheet vinyl is an affordable flooring solution that can be applied to virtually any room, including the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, office space, and more.
The cost of installing sheet vinyl flooring varies widely depending on several factors, including the type of sheet vinyl flooring and the size of the area(s) to be covered. At Riverbend Interiors, we can provide you with a free consultation and a quote on your project with your selected sheet vinyl flooring options.
Sheet vinyl flooring offers several advantages that make it a popular choice for both residential and commercial spaces:
- Durable and long-lasting – Sheet vinyl is known for its durability. It can withstand heavy foot traffic and is resistant to wear and tear, making it a cost-effective option in the long run.
- Wide range of colours and patterns – Sheet vinyl comes in a variety of colours and patterns, allowing for creative and customized design options to suit different interior styles and preferences.
- Low-maintenance – Sheet vinyl is easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping are usually sufficient to keep it looking great.
Area Rugs
Choosing the right size area rug is crucial for achieving visual balance in a space. Determine the rug’s primary purpose, whether it’s to define a specific area, anchor furniture, or add visual interest. Account for door clearances, and if layering rugs, use a larger rug as the anchor and a smaller one for decoration. The rug should also not cover the entire room. At Riverbend Interiors, we can help you choose the right area rug size for your space.
Vacuum regularly, wipe up stains promptly, and periodic professional cleaning will keep rugs in great shape.
This depends on the type and size of the rug. Don’t hesitate to visit our showroom to see all the options when it comes to area rugs, including custom area rugs built out of any carpet we sell.
Yes, we provide a range of rugs made from sustainable materials and processes.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Using blinds, shades, or UV window protectors can help.
